100-ish Word Thought: Quite Quitting

Wedding and event business marketing tips and advice about how to not give up from Julianne Smith

quitters day: second friday in january

You started out so hot and heavy. You felt like, this is it. This is the thing. I’m totally gonna do this.

But, then the newness wore off. It was harder than you thought. Took more time, more mental energy. And the results were not immediate. (Thanks, social media.)

Now, you want to quit. Ready to give up, go right back to old ways - at least you knew how long that would take, right? Sure, you didn’t get the results you wanted, but it was the devil you knew.

I love you, and you don't need to quit. It's not the answer you're looking for.

The answer you're looking for is not a zero-sum game. That goal you’re trying to achieve doesn’t come in the form of all-or-nothing approaches.

Your answer is to try something different. Pair it down, scale it back, make a shift.

I'm just taking a wild guess here, but that "thing" you want to quit was probably too big, too much, not quite right. One small shift will (not can) make the difference. And when that small shift stops working, small shift again.

Quitters quit. And you're not a quitter.
